Finally! Dr Q’s long-awaited Youtube channel is here!
The founder of South Africa’s first female-owned fertility clinic has heard the plights of her patients and has yielded to provide medically sound advice on topics patients just like you have asked throughout the years. In her introductory video, she takes you on a journey of who she is, why she became a Doctor specialising in Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Fertility and how she overcame the obstacles that resulted in the passion she has for building families. Born and raised in a kasi called Kwamashu in KZN, Dr Q challenged the “middle child syndrome,” in a family of 7 children by applying herself academically even with the temptation to give up in grade 11. Despite the financial challenges her family faced while in high school, she managed to see her dreams become a reality when she obtained the funding she needed through NSFAS and a Bursary from the Helen Suzman foundation which allowed her to complete her studies. Today, with her lifelong dream a reality, she prides herself in giving her patients the kind of care that puts them at the centre of Family Matters Fertility Clinic offering fertility, gynaecology, obstetric and surgical services with fertility at the core of what she does. When you subscribe to Family Matters Fertility Centre, you can expect fertility-related answers to:
• What is infertility?
• What causes infertility?
• At which point do you say you’re infertile as a couple?• What kind of treatment options are available to you as a couple have available if you are infertile?
Achieving a healthy pregnancy is at the core of why Dr. Q and her team do what they do. To put your mind at ease, she takes you on an educational tour of the centre's on-site laboratory which houses state-of-the-art technology that initiates, and facilitates the baby-making process.
Personally walking you through each room, she explains not only what the ultra-modern technology does, but how it’s used so that you feel at ease with allowing Family Matters Fertility Centre to assist you in making your dream a reality.
The baby-making process is delicate and thus, requires specialized procedures.
For this reason, Family Matters Fertility Centre has invested in their laboratory to ensure that a stable and appropriate environment is created for optimising embryo development and clinical outcomes.
As a result, the following can be done on-site: embryo freezing, egg donation, egg freezing, sperm donation, sperm freezing, sperm analysis, sperm washing and surrogacy.
The laboratory is the nerve centre of the fertility clinic and is equipped with: a fertile-safe multizone A.R.T work zone, that has an ISO Class 3 which helps embryologists work with the embryo. An ICSI microscope that is able to perform single sperm injection into an egg cytoplasm to attempt fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection, which is an invitro-fertilization technique in which a single sperm is injected into the egg cytoplasm. Dewars that contain liquid nitrogen, used to store and freeze gametes and embryos. A light microscope that is used to screen the quality and quantity of semen during analysis. The K-systems R65 trolley which is able to provide optimum temperature control. And, an advanced theatre bed that is flexible enough to allow for easy positioning for both patient and obstetrician. The L neuthrotomy position is also less intimidating for patients who would find the usual theatre beds daunting. It also comes with a screen which allows for patients to follow along with the intervention.
Dr Q and her team hope that you can trust Family Matters Fertility Centre in achieving your goal of fertility and pregnancy.
Keeping in mind that at the end of the day, it is God who does the final work.
